My dog has not played dog sports before, can I still come to camp?
Absolutely!!  While performance dogs and those wishing to compete in trials are welcome, Camp Doggin' It is primarily for the family pet.  Our focus is on introducing both you and your four legged friend to dog sports/activities which you may not have the opportunity to try at home.

Is camp suitable for dogs that are under confident or are over greeters?
Dogs that are working on impulse control are definitely welcome at camp.  We have activities that are suitable and will share strategies to help make camp a fun experience for all.  In addition, we will provide your dog with a Camp Doggin' It bandana so that others are aware and can help you be successful in dealing with distractions and impulse control.

I go to dog classes already.  How is this different?
Classes are great but camp is different.  Camp offers a unique opportunity to get away with your four legged friend for a mini vacation!  It's a great way to socialize your dog to a new environment and with a lot of new people and new dogs.  Our uniquely structured program allows you to play various dog sports over the weekend.  For those who are working on impulse control with their dog, we offer a safe and stress free environment to do this.
Can I work more than one dog over the weekend?
  • Absolutely!!  The Explorer, Adventurer and Expeditioner packages were developed specifically for this reason.  You can switch dogs between activities as there's no need to work the same dog.
  • Switching dogs between lessons within the same activity:  This is only applicable where both dogs have mastered the foundation skills.
  • Working both dogs at every lesson:  Yes, you may.  There is a small charge for the additional dog.  Please contact me for details.

Is there access to a refrigerator?
There is a large refrigerator in the dining hall that can be used to store your items (such as raw food, training treats, etc.).  Please ensure it is labeled and well sealed to prevent spills.

Can I stay overnight on Sunday?
Yes, you may.  There is a restaurant in town where you can stop for breakfast on your way home.

I want to come to camp but I'm used to my creature comforts.
Register for our commuter package.  Check out the accomodations listed on The City of Kawartha Lakes for possible off site pet friendly places to stay.
