Engagement GamesThis workshop is all about games - a lot of games!! At Camp Doggin' It we believe that playing games and having fun is the best way to learn.
Games and play = teamwork/engagement! |
In this session we will explore the benefits of engagement games. Why games? Play increases the communication between you and your dog, builds a stronger team and a more engaged relationship/stronger between you and your dog. By using different forms of play, you will have a bunch of tools in your toolkit to help you get and maintain your dog’s focus which among other things, will help build a more solid recall.
Engagement occurs when you and your dog play together. An engaged dog knows that payment (treats, toys and play) comes from the handler and seeks to work with them. This leads to more teamwork, an increased drive to perform, shared commitment and stronger partnership. Dogs that understand engagement are easier to train, have better focus in the presence of distractions and have a better bond with their handler.
