So many people while excited for my new adventure, are shaking their heads. I have a full time job and two part time jobs (which are really more like hobbies to me) and now, a dog camp!! What's the motivation??? Here's my story.
Once upon a time, there were 3, yes THREE dog camps in Ontario to choose from. Sadly, one by one they have all closed. The longest running camp (Camp Dogwould) announced last year that 2011 was to be their final year. Camp is where my journey began. It not only introduced me to dog sports, but also taught me a lot about dog behavior and training. Unlike many, I did not grow up with dogs. I had so much to learn, especially as one of my dogs is shy, under-confident, and shuts down easily. After my first camp, I came home excited to work on building up her confidence and enrolled in a local agility class. Looking back, I wonder what I would have done otherwise, or worse—what would have happened to my little dog without the camp experience. This is my primary reason for starting a new camp: to give all dogs the chance to become their best.
